Sadly, when you force change in this way is it not the same as a natural change. Attitudes in the country are the same. Nothing changed internally in essence. Nothing TRULY changes unless attitudes do. The downside of this is attitudes are fickle and can move in the other direction too.
As for boycotting hotels, I suspect the well-to-do had plenty of other options and other hotel chains cashed in. No real sacrifice there.... for example due to gay rights I will not go to the hotel, but I will still go even if women are treated as 2nd class citizens? And yet... the boycott stopped. As I say fickle. They are back in that hotel already lol, funding the subjugation of woman in essence. Champagne socialists never really care. And the free publicity is priceless, of course! Not to mention all of the cooing people licking up to them for their 'pure' deeds.
