Some classic Ford assembled in France (long Ford-France story)

Like Fiat 508 (Fiat-France then Simca) or Austin Seven (Rosengart), Ford Y was a current car in France before the war. Notice the amazing advertising for rigid axle suspension.

Some Ford transformed by Charles Montier in sport cars. He was also race pilot

Ford V8-40

Ford Y 6CV

Apparition of the joint-venture Matford in 1934
A lot of french constructors met difficulties after 1929 financial crisis like Mathis a big alsacian firm. Ford-France and Mathis created Matford and became associated. Then Ford got the important manufactory Mathis at Strasbourg and Mathis in theory could continue to sell his own production. In reality only Ford will survive in this operation.

Ford V8-40 1934

First real Matford named Alsace but still near of his american sister

Stand Matford -1936 Paris motorshow

Matford convertible - As all the Matford the model is available with V8 engine 13 or 21 CV

Matford F92A - 1939 model
1939, after a long judiciary fight E.Mathis found again his manufactory in Alsace and Ford-France settled at Poissy near Paris in a brand new building.

Creation of Ford SAF (société anonyme française) in 1946

Ford V8-472 (1947)

1948 - New Ford Vedette designed at Detroit but judged to small by the american staff. (V8 - 12 CV - 2158 cm3)

Ford Vedette convertible

Ford Comete

Ford Vedette with modified rear trunk (since 1952)

1954 - Ford Vendome with big V8 - 22 CV

1954 - Ford Comete Monte-Carlo with Vendome engine

1954 - New Ford Vedette allways with V8 engine but 13 CV - 2351 cm3
Ford US is going to sell Ford SAF to Simca (manufactory and new model)
At the motorshow 1954 this car is no more a Ford but not still a Simca and there is no constructor name on the catalog !
