Winter 1970 : 9 monthes after Geneva motorshow, the Citroën SM appear at last on our roads. The model is yet more amazing in the traffic than on a podium. Here it is crossing a Berliet truck GAK 10 tons in eastern France.

First test in car magazines.

"Passage du Gois" : A road under the sea to go to Noirmoutier island (France)

Left : Simca Huit 1200 model 1950 (just before the Aronde).
Right : Delahaye 135 bodyworked by Franay (from Thierry Dubois).
If one of these two drivers has a breakdown, there is a traffic island (second ground) where him and his passengers can quietly watch their car getting submerged by the waves (six hours wait).

The passage during high tide twenty years later.

Colombes near Paris in late sixties : On the main avenue, a Buick Riviera first generation is passing a popular Renault 8 while, in the other direction, we can see one Renault Estafette from the post travelling on the pavement.

Buick Riviera (1963 - ? )

Coach is the only body in the Buick Riviera catalog . Here is the second generation 1965 with retractable head-lights. Left, main competitor of the Riviera, the Ford Thunderbird is available also in version cabriolet.

August 1961 : Like today, it is the heatwave on the holidays road in southern France.

The unfortunately driver of this Simca Beaulieu is waiting for the cooling of his motor, while Renault Floride and Peugeot 203 are working fine, them !

Only one motor V8 Simca (origin Ford, lateral valves, before war) for five models. The three speeds gearbox is not younger.

Left : Simca Vedette first generation, origin Ford France (1954 - 1957)
Right : Simca Vedette second generation (1957 - 1961). The production is going on in South America with Simca do Brasil.

Sandford VS BNC
The Sandford on the left is derived from the British cyclecar three wheels Morgan.

BNC 1100 cm3 (1927) at the parade that celebrated the fifty years of "24 heures du Mans" in 1973.

The full of gas for this Packard coupé 1955, one of the last imported in France.
The famous American constructor is taken over by Studebaker in 1956 and stop its production two years later.

Inedit suspension of the last Packard with two longitudinal torsion bars. There is one interaction front/rear and the height control of the body is realized by an electric motor.

Hispano-Suiza J12 (1931-1938)

Even in the beautiful areas of Paris, one Hispano V12 "coupé de ville" bodyworked by Binder do not pass un-noticed !
Only 110 frames were made in seven years.

This saloon, fitted on a short frame, without middle leg and designed by Vanvooren, would be the car of the founder of Hispano-Suiza, Marc Birkigt himself (1878 - 1953).

The engine V 12 type 68 existed also in the version 68 bis, 11.5 liter (100x120 mm) - 220 HP.

Citroën DS Prototype

Around 1951-52
The prototype is working fine while there is yet some hydraulic issues on this 11 Traction equiped with the devices of the future DS.

A prototype named "hyppopotamus" by the factory testers.

Purchased by the investigators of the magazine "L'Auto-Journal" on a small road of southern France.

June 1952 : At this time it is yet a flat-six motor water cooled that is expected for this outstanding car.

"7 B, Traction of one summer" (from July to December 34, longer than a summer)

A model 100% origin, not restored.

The symetric back before the opening trunk of the model 36.

Above, the saloon with the roof of simili. The full metal sheet one is in option.
Below, the faux-cabriolet.

Special features of the early 7 :
- Tachymeter in the middle of the dashbord
- 2 ventilation trapdoors
- Trunk access from the back seat.

- Wheeltrim clipped on the weel Michelin STOP.
- Double-chevron behind the chromed radiator gril.
- Flat headlight glass.
- Klakson on the front bumper.

Reinforced from everywhere, the 7 is 125 Kg heavier than the first model and need a bigger motor.
Quickly the 7 A (72 x 80) become 7 B (78 x 80) then true 7 CV are very rare, most of them are really some 9 CV.
7 C (72 x 100) model 35 has a motor aligned on the 11 (78 x 100) for standardizing reason. The stroke become 100 mm for all the Traction motors (current DS motors until 1965 and H van until 1981!).
