Engineer Emile Claveau had for model the author of "Le discours de la méthode". (XVII th century)

V8 engine double OHC in front and five speeds gear box in 1948!

Grégoire 2 liter "R"


The Grégoire R is the only prototype that lead to a small serie made by Hotchkiss who thought that this model could save it! The body of the R is the result of numerous test in windtunnel by Rateau, a French turbine constructor.

The body of melt light aluminium alliage is exposed at Paris motorshow 1948.

The interesting body type Vutotal of the prototype 1948 is left the following year.

Another example of Vutotal windshield licence Labourdette on a Peugeot 202 - 1938

Last appearance of one Mathis at Paris motorshow 1949. It is only a frame without body.

A 2 CV with servo-suspension F-L, an active suspension developed by the engineer Jean Federspiel in 1952!


The horizontal springs of the 2 CV are hidden under the floor. They are activated by a rigid stem connected to the suspension arm. The engineer replaces this stem by one hydraulic jack that allow to change the body height.

The 2 CV is a second-hand model 1950.

On the left, this special 2 CV without pressure is resting on its rubber stops like a DS some years later.

Servo-suspension tested on rollers.

Some meters of pipe under the seats

Left : The hydraulic reservoir.
Right : The valve that control the front-left jack.

Left : Jean Federspiel, electronician engineer, radio-TV long waves specialist. He thinked that frequencies issues of radio-TV are like those of car suspension.
Right : The pendulum under the dashboard that control all the system

Left : The reservoir
Right : The belt of the hydraulic pump.

The mechanical under the floor seem very complicated.
Today there is nobody to restore it.

Alfa fans are disappointed when appear the 155 in 1992. Made from a Fiat plateform (front wheels drive Fiat Tipo-Lancia Dedra), the new model with the clover exchange the famous four cylinder double OHC for a modern transversal Fiat motor 16 valves.
