1501 Special is back for a while (74-75). Because of the new anti-pollution standards, both motors are a little less powerful.


Only the logo at the back allow to distinguish 1501 Special from 1301 Special.

A big "truth consumption operation" in Februar 74 for re-launching the cars selling during the first oil crash. Matra Simca Bagheera winned this contest.

Model 76


Last appearance of the Simca 1301 Special at Paris motorshow 1975. The production is stopped at the end of this year. In 1976, some 1301 Special are yet sold on stock. On the photo we can see behind it the new Simca 1307/1308 (derived from the Simca 1100) that is going to replace it.
On twelve years of career, like the Aronde, the 1300/1500 global production remain underneath of the old Simca one.


A dual choke carburettor is fitted on the Chrysler 160 (+10 ch).

Simca 1000 and Chrysler have some identical round dials and dashboard buttons. Not sure it is an advantage for the up'market Two Liter. The old-fashioned fake wood don't change anything.


Same to Simca 1100 that get a new dashboard for the model 75.

The version 160 is deleted while the version 180 is renamed 1610 without modification.


There is a new logo SIMCA on the trunk door. (left)


A thick and comfortable back seat reduce the reactions of the rigid axle on bad road.


Among the Chrysler, the version 2 Liter is the most sold.

Model 79

Simplified one more time, the Chrysler range 1610/2 Liter is become one single model with or without automatic gearbox.


New wheels, light alliage in option. The logo is now on the bonnet.


Above, the Spanish subsidiary Chrysler Barreiros propose a Diesel version.

Model 80 : Chrysler Europe become Talbot.


Except the logo, no change for the last 1610/2 Liter whose the production is stopping late1979.


Dealership boards are changing during a big ads campaign in summer 79. Quickly done, the new one on the old and the Simca name disappear in the same time.
Really background, one Chrysler appear on the first Talbot catalog cover published in September 79.


Could we replace the Simca 1000? Chrysler then Talbot try to do it with the Sunbeam. If the profil is like the Horizon one, the mechanical is totally different. Talbot 1510 replace Simca 1307/1308.

New Talbot Tagora


Presentation to the medias winter 80/81 in the south Moroccan desert.


When Peugeot arrived at Poissy in 1978, project C9 was too advanced to be left. However, after the second oil crash, a small car for replacing the Simca 1000 would be more welcome by the pubkic.


Powered by the same motor, Citroën CX Athena, Renault 20 TX and Peugeot 505 STI are the French competitors of this Tagora 2.2 L that keep the Simca-Chrysler engine. It is just a little bigger.




A Diesel version powered by the 2.3 L turbo of the Peugeot 505.

Tagora profil is close to the Solara one above.
This up'market V6 version has some specific wheels of light alliage. (TRX Michelin tyres for the SX)


Central control and computer in board were not yet current at this time.


Rear independant wheels for the first time on a Simca (oops, Talbot) propulsion. Maybe it is too late...


Three motors : 2.2 L Chrysler (GL, GLS), V6 PRV 2.6 L (SX), 2.3 L Turbo D (DT).


Marketing failure, the Tagora production stop only two years after the model launch. Anyway, in 1983, it is soon the end for Talbot.
