I should have added that I don't know anything about OTB except for what people have said in this thread, so I can't comment on how well or poorly they operate their business; my comment was meant as a general one regarding piracy and unauthorised downloads.

Maybe I shouldn't have posted this. Who knows. When I said that we weren't directly responsible I meant that I don't believe that piracy is the big main reason for the companies reduced sales. I know we have an effect just that we are not the big main cause. I feel like that maybe they think that their site is great and wonderful and that there couldn't be anything wrong with them and that its all us. That if we weren't here that they would be a big huge success. I don't deny that we have an effect and prob not the best one on some of the little guys. My opinion was just merely that maybe they were being a little bit of a baby and that if their sales are tanking that they should look at their company and about my quote I never sad I wanted to end piracy. I think that thing started going south for them and so they jump straight to us. like there's no other reason why their sales could be tanking. I'm not blaming anyone here. I don't agree with their statement. Listen I didn't mean to create an uproar they posted this on their website and I was curious about opinions that all. If I offended anyone I'm sorry.

Pirating porn is a somewhat sophisticated computer activity. If you are savvy enough to have found this site, and are able to successfully download and unRAR a series of links you are more net savvy than most computer users.

There is always going to be a majority of netyzens who simply are unable to understand the techniques of pirating and will buy.

I'm going to say that the majority of porn afficionados don't have the skill to do this. Those folks will buy not pirate. I do a lot of computer support and if my client can right klik a mouse I consider that a milestone.

The software industry has plenty of customers who are incapable of pirating. Maybe the majority. I deal with them all the time. Just look at some of the questions posed here on this board, such as 'How do I download from Filesonic?' or 'Can you repost on Rapidshare, I can never get Sharing Matrix to work?'

I frequently try to instruct people in the art of downloading and unzipping. If I don't hold them by the hand they would never get it. Nope, the software industry (and the porn industry) will easily survive any possible losses from piracy. There are simply too many folks out there who do not have the skills to pirate.

I had to laugh at this - you are sooo right!

I'm always being asked for help at work for what I consider the most basic things, and by people who have worked using computers for years.
Completely non-porn related I've sent web site links and publically available download or streaming links to friends / aquaintances and some just seem to struggle to get something that is just one simple click to work!

I never used to think I was a particular expert but compared with the average I do seem to have more of a clue

I agree with behluvr & xman101. But these days even trying to work out how to get a subscription to a paysite & what details have to put on the subscription form can seem more complicated than writing a new program in C+!

After consulting w/ the moderation first, I've decided to bump this thread in order to make a 2010 vs 2025 comparison.

@josh_the_hot_boy I don't think you did anything wrong, and you certainly did not have to apologize. You made it very clear that you posted this for the purpose of discussion, not to point fingers. If it's okay for some to argue in support of piracy, it's okay for others to argue against it or have a neutral viewpoint on the matter. Nobody has to take it personally.

The more I think of it, the more unfair I think piracy is. For instance... I'm a subscriber of several paysites, incl. MEN and Broke Straight Boys. Each new release systematically appear on certain pirate sites just one day after publication. How is it fair to me, a (permanent) paying subscriber?

One particular pirate site currently hosts 935 MEN scenes and 264 BSB scenes. Sure, it's not the whole catalogues of those studios, but still... All the new updates show, which makes the "exclusivity" those paysites offer an illusion. In official terms, I'm paying for exclusivity, but it is evidently an illusion, esp. since those same scenes oftentimes have more views on the pirate sites than the official sites.


Rene Nijstad explained in details all the costs involved in running a studio... OF/JFF models often assume the same costs: transportation, accommodation, health testing, technical assistance (filming, lighting, editing, etc.), logistics (incl. rental of locations), and medication (Viagra, Cialis, or Tri-Mix). Add to that additional medication (like PrEP and DoxyPEP), gym memberships, dietary supplements, clothing (incl. luxury underwear or S&M gear), etc. In some cases, models will pay for therapy and antidepressants.

Some criticize certain studios for not paying their models more while consuming the leaks instead of paying for membership... And what about those who pirate OF/JFF models? What's the excuse, then?

I now avoid pirated stuff—as in commercially available full-length scenes (whether on here or anywhere else). I prefer sticking to my own subs and authorized free stuff.


It appears that OTB closed not so long after this thread was made... I'm sorry it had to come to that. Some commented that maybe OTB did not renew itself enough or the scenes were not up to par... If so, why was it massively pirated? If it sucked so much, it would not have been so pirated.

In 2025, it's a miracle that many studios still exist... And they solely exist because of the remaining paying subscribers that some pirates see as "simps." If it weren't for the "simps" paying, there'd be no more productions, and therefore nothing left to pirate. Same thing when it comes to personal portals such as OF, JFF, Raw Fuck Club, and Fansly.

Paying subscribers may no longer pay for exclusivity, but they at least keep production going and models fed and cared for. Something to think about!
