Double posts and why it's NOT so much of a problem...

OK; after the many complaints I've viewed and the actions of certain other members, I'm going to speak my piece on the whole mention of "double postings" and why other members should be grateful, rather than displeased about it. Know that I'm not speaking from anger myself, but rather; a place from where everyone can understand.

I'm not an Admin or even a Mod, but maybe if a normal member like yours truly speaks on it, it can calm some of the angry swarm that seems to follow it.

In short, if someone posts the same video you have, you should see this as a blessing. Why? Well, let's say for instance that your file ends up deleted or blocked by the file server you've used. If that's the case, there is another way for the users of GBP to obtain and enjoy the same video. At the end of the day, this is a place of sharing and should be seen as such. If your link still happens to be active, it's not so hard to post in that same thread, "You can also find the video here, just in case this link dies"; followed by a link to the original post. That way, everyone's post is acknowledged. Of course, if a video has just been posted, a simple search of the Forum can be done and therefore, no problems can occur.

Also, some people have the same video file in a much smaller size. You have to be wary of the fact that some people have much slower connections (or hard drives) then others. It's always better to have access to another file that's much smaller than the possible 200MB (or more) video clip that is available. Also, not everyone has Rapidshare Premium accounts and waiting for that 15 minutes to download multiple parts isn't always fun.

Also, let's be real. There are over a thousand (or more) members here at the Forum. With every new post, an older post is pushed back and the mass of us aren't going to search on the very last page for a video. Let everyone have their chance to shine on the Forum. Some of us are using Rapidshare points to obtain Premium Accounts without paying. It's only fair to let other members grab some points as well for their accounts, just like you're more than likely doing.

Will said it best in another post: "It really saddens me when I see how members behave just because somebody reposted something they did..."

Let's not be like those other Forums that attack other members simply because they have provided another link. This is a place of fun, to have a good laugh and just get your thoughts out once in a while. Let's keep it that way and leave the animosity and attacks aside.

I hope I haven't stepped on anyone's toes by doing this. I just want things to be so much better for a place that really is a great time for lots of us.

I do share for the sake of sharing and for the points. I earn several free RS accounts because I post files and links all over the place that I can...mostly on the groups and mail lists, I don't do blogs. I also trade and bundle links. When you are active in this, you actually prefer as many postings as possible, the more posting, the more chances to earn points. I do it for fun, some do it for the money.

Some on the site are sensitive about where links come from and the double posting issue. For that reason, I don't do too much direct posting anymore because I don't want to chance posting a relink and I'm not one who likes to piss people off; I'm a nice guy.

However, I earn at least one free RS account from GBP activity because many of my links do get posted as relinks from groups or blogs that have picked them up. I get the download points. I can't be happier about it, so I would encourage sharing and double posting from a self-centered position of wanting maximum RS points. As far as competing RS links to mine, I trade and share links to protect my own links with others, so the more, the better from my perspective. It's a type of insurance.

The key is to be low-key to avoid problems with the Terminators. Another reason why I don't like to directly post my links under my name. I don't like tying my personal RS accounts to my online postings. And DON'T use the same username on different sites or groups if you are a poster....that just helps the Terminators connect the dots.

The real problem my friends is the anti-sharing Nazi Terminators who are watching all the time and trying to shut things down. On average, I lose a free RS account every 2 months or so because of the Terminators. But there are Anti-Terminators on the prowl now for the Nazi Terminators and the Nazis are getting what they deserve. Haha...ever see a Terminator with a case of Anti-Terminator worms.

We obviously don't want too many double posts of the same file but from a purely personal point of view there is no problem in posting another version of a video or picture set. It's not always easy to find if it's been posted before so if anyone complains they're just being petty!

I do think it's wrong if they use the original poster's links though!!

Posts go down so quick it's easy to miss something you might like, so another post isn't something anyone should complain about

Its so childish how people are like "omg bitch you stole my movie". With a site like this as mentioned above stuff goes down or things might be bumped several pages back and new posters might not know that things are there and when they are "caught" they have no idea that they did something wrong.

I've seen it done so many times on here. I'm not talking about posting something right AFTER someone posted the same thing... but sometimes, it's an "out of sight, out of mind" thing. I just wish those who get angry could be a bit more polite about it all, which is why I decided to post this.

If I am the original poster, I want my original links posted and reposted as many times possible.
I don't want someone downloading movies I post, uploading them again, and then posting their upload links; I get cheated out of my RS points that way.
My opinion is if you use my uploaded links from wherever, use my original posting links; that way I get the credit for the original posting.
For some reason....people don't get this.

Bloggers don't like people using their links away from their blog as they are trying to generate traffic to their blog site because that can translate into higher ad revenue if they are into that.
Raw download posters, just want the download credits.
True file sharers...just wanna have fun and free media.

Something I have seen which people haven't said anything about yet is that people pretty much copy and paste the same movie format from a blog and then make it their own...now that is bad lol. Its all the same even in the movie name. Like some blogs make up their own title and then I have seen the same stuff here I am like uh wtf lol. Its like omg I just saw that today and look whats up now lol.

All you can do is give credit where credit is due...

Besides, to mention the name of the blog could possibly put it in jeopardy of being deleted. So, I just always mention that I grabbed it from somewhere, giving a slight kudos to the original "owner" of that clip.

You could mention the blog in shortcut name without giving it up. like if the blog was named "hotboisblog" at hotboisblog.com...you could just say..."a clip from HB blog" without giving them up.

I don't know, the whole blog concept doesn't really work for porn sharing...I mean on one hand the purpose is to drive traffic to your blog, but yet if it is the wrong one person, they may report your blog and kill all your hard workX(...blogging to share porn...just doesn't really make sense. :worried:Have you ever seen a porn blog....that doesn't eventually get killed? I haven't posted that many links I have a lot of porn yes but I got most of it from and other people here so I'm not going to repost something I've download from someone else's post.

Just some observations FWIW:

1. It occurs more and more as time goes on.

2. A few that I have been interested in are here five and six times (of course you have to see it when it occurs, because the titles are almost always changed). You could go back and check if you cared, but ...

3. Today is the first time I have noticed two (maybe three) of the same one posted in one day. It may have happened before. EDIT: it actually happened twice today.

I have never understood the point, but it is obviously related to some kind of gain on the part of the posters. Reading this topic, it is also apparently related to somewhat equivalent loss for others.

And once in a while, only occasionally, a post will be of better quality than the prior ones. Discovering that is not easy, but for the odd post, worth it.

i don't know much to say about this...i have seen clips being reposted but in a way it helps for rs/hs points and keeps the links alive. But its good to make it a point to say they are not your movie.
