People were phoning in about this on a London phone-in radio station last night.

One comment was how bad it makes single people or those recently having a break up feel. One person said it was the most depressing day of the year.

Traditionally (or at least when I was younger) valentines were sent out anonymously to someone who attracted you. I certainly don't remember it as being something most people made a fuss over. The only competition between guys was how many cards they'd each received :p

As I said earlier, it's just a load of rubbish, a date on a calendar where you're enticed to spend money you don't have - gives the card & cuddly toy people a bit of a boost until Easter comes along! It's not a romantic day, a romantic day is something special done unexpectedly.

Ignore it - Take advice from an old cynic :p
 
I said it last year and I'll say it again this year...

The only person who knew how to celebrate Valentine's Day was Al Capone...

The Russian governor of Idon'trememberthecity banned this unuseful and totally not traditional Holiday, and apparently proposed the Vodka Day... :thinking:
I'm no drinker, but I'd like it better... :p
 
Despite having no one, I'm pretty happy today. My best friend and I wished each other a happy single's awareness day and made each other laugh... I want to just jump to marriage with him.

Today there happened to be two big, gorgeous red flowers in our rose bushes for my boyfriend and I. However, this isn't a great day for him since one of his boyfriends died on valentines day. We took our amazing companion (Froh the dog) to the vet this morning for what we thought was just a minor ear infection, but as it turns out his life is in critical danger and we both fear a repeat of that past trauma.

Just learned that the reason the first guy rejected me was because he made a vow of celibacy, which he told me he wholeheartedly regrets.
