Internet Dating Sites???

So I've been on my fare share of dating sites but yeah know I never know what to say. I see someone cute but then I have to message them. I never know what to say.

Hi how are you? I hope your day is going well.

That's gotta be the lamest thing I've ever heard but what else is there to say I don't really know the person except for what they tell on their profile. I don't know. I never can think of something different to say.

What do you think. Have you ever done the online dating thing?? What do you usually say?

Well, I haven't went on a date with someone from an online dating service, however, there were a couple of guys who pics were hot and I send one in particular a message that said..."I'm not used to doing this, but I was so compelled to send u a message to let u know how my heart skipped a beat and I got short of breath once I saw how captivatingly gorgeous u r in ur pics..."...and u know what??..it actually worked..the guy thought my message was so nice..that he told me he just had to contact me...

i've chatted, but not online dating...at least i didn't see it that way. just start with with "hi". in chatrooms that is what i do and i get response and know the other ppl.

I never use the date sites, but I do use the cruise sites. 90% hot hookups, a couple became regulars f-buddies, 1 became a restaurant/movie/vacation buddy. Oh yeah, 10% were complete disasters and almost made me want to go straight.

Haha I use Grindr which is technically a dating app... and its about the same... except 40% where hot hook ups, the other 60% were mediocre hookups lol!!!

I usually break the ice by either a comment on their profile info...and a compliment never hurt anyone... It's obviously easier if they have an interesting About or a joke u can go on to break the ice.

But let's be honest... if ur hot u can say "I just shit my pants" and they'll still talk to you hahaha

But if "your not hot" its hard to break the ice and get them to see that you don't really look like your face got chewed off by dogs its the camera makes you look that way.

I met an ex on an internet dating site, we met, got on great, ended up being together for 3 years!

I strongly oppose internet dating, unless it's for hookups, which you can get in a gay club far more easily. Almost all people who post on those sites seem to be so shallow and/or cocky that makes you think "wow this guy is so dumb that I won't even be hard"...

Best dating site, hands down - OKCupid! That place is a goldmine. The people there are NORMAL, they aren't egotistical, they aren't arrogant and they're usually pretty easy on the eye AS LONG AS you fill out enough of their 'match' questions which matches you with the people that you're far more likely to get along with.

Take this a signpost, all the exs I got on well with and ended up on good terms with started popping up after I answered 50-100 questions and I am yet to actually see any of my crap ones (assuming they are on there).

Also, started dating a lovely guy off of there, nearly at the month mark now and it's going obscenely well. Cute, sweet, nerdy (excuse me while I melt), a gamer, part Polish (don't act like you don't have a soft spot for eastern europeans too) and a pretty damned good match all round.

As for something to say in a first message, I'm usually honest. 'Hey, it's nice to see people on here that are actually decent people and not totally self-obsessed. So yr into -insert interests here- awesome! I've been needing a big nerd-out about x for ages, what's yr favourite x?' Or even the cheesy 'hey, how's yr day going? What brings you to this site?' works just fine.

The number one thing is making sure yr profile brings out yr real personality. If you message them, they're going to look at yr profile 100%, I do that to everyone and everyone I've ever messaged has looked at mine. So have it all filled out, try to sound as interesting as you are and you'll be fine . Hope it helps ^^

Personally, so-called dating sites are more times than not just a place to hookup and get laid. Granted, that is a natural part of life (and frankly who wouldn't like getting laid when they like)?

That being said, I've seen the same people using pictures that were taken well over 10 or 15 years ago. It's true that it actually is still them, but everyone changes in appearance over time. I know times are tough financially, but how hard is it to go to Wal Mart, spend $20 on a webcam, and take a recent photo?

Sadly, even sites that require membership, make it very easy to post photos of people that are not them just to get you to send photos for them to wank off too.

I do wish I knew where to look online though. A few years ago the m4m chat rooms on AOL were full of people, and gave a great experience meeting new people and making new friends. Over time, those died off. The Gay.com chat rooms used to have moderators to prevent abuse, and had a huge number of frequent users. Over time, they got rid of moderators and when sites like Manhunt.net or Adam4adam.com came along, almost all of the Gay.com chat rooms are a ghost town. Even frequent use of messengers like Yahoo or AIM, seem to fuzzled out. I'd love to find where online a lot of people still chat and be social these days other than 'if I don't want to f*ck you i won't talk to you sites".

When using dating sites, what you get all depends on your choice of site. Sites like ManPlay will get you a casual fling; for something more lasting, other sites are preferable. Since I have difficulty just going up to people and talking to them, I use dating sites, and I met both my boyfriends through dating sites. The first relationship lasted over a year, the second relationship is ongoing.

I don't know about anywhere else, but here in Australia I have had the most success, relationship-wise, with Match.com and GayMatchMaker.com.au. The only problem with dating sites is the other people who don't respect things like your age range or your specific preferences - just last week I got propositioned by a 91-year-old for a casual fling (I'm hoping his age was a typo). And of course, there is always the risk of the person on the other end of the world wide web representing themselves to be someone other than they are. The key thing is to be careful and know what you're looking for.
