What about making it a rule for download sections?

Today I saw a user open 8 threads in a row, that must be a pain to mods, no to mention it sends a ton of threads to the 2nd page inmediatly.

The rule would make the moderator job easier since they dont have to open X amount of tabs at the same time and the forum would look more organized.

It's an interesting and appropriate discussion point.

There is an announcement here about thread limits being set at 8/14 hours. This was to try to avoid the problem of recent posts being pushed back too far. It doesn't apply to posts in megathreads, of course.

I'm not sure that a megathread only rule would be feasible or possible. It couldn't be achieved from the software and so would involve a lot of work from the staff persuading posters to do it. Apart from that, some posters don't like megathreads although I personally do as it brings all your posts back into the forefront of the section every time you add to it.

I hope other members will comment so that we can gauge opinion. Should the limit be reduced further?

Meanwhile if any poster wishes to create a megathread from their individual posts, he can contact any staff member by pm with the details. Likewise, if anyone wishes to change a megathread title, again contact a staff member. These actions can only be done by staff but we are always happy to help, provided we are given the full details.

I also like the idea of encouraging mega threads - perhaps cut the limit down to 6/12 hours to further give the right incentive?
