The Pope has spoken... "So let it be written, so let it be done"
Pope To Demote Anti-Gay Cardinal Raymond Burke

Cardinal Raymond Burke
Rumors have been spreading that Pope Francis intended to demote an anti-gay Cardinal from the Vatican’s Supreme Court. On Friday and Saturday, Cardinal Raymond Burke himself confirmed that to multiple news sources.
According to the National Catholic Reporter, Burke confirmed that he would be removed from his position as Chief Justice.
While the Cardinal says he hasn’t yet received formal notice, he can confirm that he has been told the demotion is happening. He is expected to be moved to a post that is largely ceremonial.
While there is no official word that the Cardinal is being removed from his position due to an openly, and outspokenly, anti-gay stance, he has made headlines in recent weeks for his comments on related issues.
Specifically, Cardinal Burke decried a recent doent released by the Pope, calling for acceptance. The doent hinted at a softening of the church’s stance on homosexuality.
Homosexuals have gifts and qualities to offer to the Christian community: are we capable of welcoming these people, guaranteeing to them a fraternal space in our communities?
According to The Catholic World Report, Burke spoke out against this doent, saying it did not reflect holy scripture and the beliefs of the church, and that it gave a false impression that doctrine was evolving.
Cardinal Burke further said that the Pope needs to issue a firm statement making it clear that, despite public opinion, the church’s stance on same-sex marriage and homosexuality are not likely to change.
The Cardinal’s recent remarks have made waves among Catholics, with many responding indignantly to the suggestion that gay family members should be exiled from gatherings where children are present.
It has not been explicitly said that the anti-gay Cardinal is being ousted for his views or words, though in light of recent events, that is certainly the widespread understanding.
