Hello.

Shoutboxes are cool. They have the form of a box and you can shout in them. That's why they are called shoutbox.

Some complained about the angel in the logo of the new style. You could replace the angel with a shoutbox and everybody would be happy.

Could we have a shoutbox? I want a shoutbox and my cat wants it too.

Dear Team of GP... GH... I request a shoutbox. No pressure of course. I know there are many other urgent matters at hand. So I will just stop breathing till I get the shoutbox, starting now.......

(...)

(falls off the chair)

(mumbling, while still holding the breath "could someone move the thread to Suggestions & Forum Feedback, please")

I kinda in the grey area about this. Like because it replacing the angel but doesn't like when the shoutbox just contain rubbish words like F-you, b**ch, or yelling and arguing incoherently with someone who posting before. Or even yelling why I have a fuckin life like this. Use page profile to spit out what's in your brain if you hadn't anyone to listen, some may replay and hear you or not. Its better for the eyes of other people who already in a bad mood than reading your rambling. Imo

This is a pretty decent community with friendly people.

Why should people, who send each other "Have a nice weekend"-cards, call each other b**tch in the shoutbox?

Decent? I would say several only. There's over, how many, +700k registered members in here, I dont think all have a 'decent' category. Shout box is like a hit and run incident, you spit out and leave your mess in there so everyone can see. That's what I hate from shout box.

I :agree: with everything that RefixnarcisM:heart: just said, I'm also in the grey area about this shoutbox as well, that's the reason why i left the other forum called gay pirates in the first place, plus it just makes my web browsing very slow, maybe because it uses a plugin called flash which can use a lot of PC Resources or memory, but thank you anyways for suggesting this shoutbox feature my friend :big hug:

Yes, you're right, there is a risk that you read things like "F** you" there. But everything can be misabused / used in an undesired manner. The PM/comment system can be misabused but we still have it. Porn-leechers usually don't use the shoutbox or write "Hi guys" at best.

@CP 101: Really? I rarely saw aggression in the shoutbox there. I saw it as a means to connect people.

Ik, well this is a forum. Then again, it will become a spam junk. Plenty ended up like that. And isnt that shout box is also available for outsider or non-member to post too right, hmm...imagine all the craps that I have to see. You know since they didnt have anything to do. Unless theres this options to hide the shout box. Whole thing, not only an disturbing comment or rant.

Yes even if there was some aggression in the shoubox there or not, I still don't like to use that shoutbox because of the reasons RefixnarcisM:heart: mentioned that can happen and that it slows down web browsing, cause couple of times my browser crashed because of that shout box using some plugin called Flash which is a PC Resources/memory hogger, I just prefer to chat with other members here via PM Message and Visitor Message which is user friendly, but thank you once again for suggesting this feature my friend :big hug:

I read your opinion ;) and I told you that I can follow it intellectually. But it doesn't reflect my own experience with shout-boxes. It's always what you make out of it. On another gay site we watched the European Song Contest together or the Football Championship this summer and it was so funny.

A shout box will be nice to have - with an option to hide it.
I have not seen it abused in a few other forums I belong to. Indeed often it is a way for newer members (like myself here) to meet other members.
Also - people tend to share positive emotions rather than negative ones. And sure there's more than a few decent people around this forum too - at least this has been my experience so far.

Besides I do not know what your technical staff is thinking about it, we will discuss about the shoutoutbox amoung the staff members and will let you know about it then.

It's an easy thing to misuse such thing for spam and other ugly stuff

Therefore a shoutbox requires 7/24 moderation every single minute. The staff lost a lot ppl lately i think they cannot effort some more efforts

^^Soo agree. I mean they already had difficulties with their job right now, underage porn and stuff like that. This would make their job a lot heavier.

One can always limt the access to registered members. And concerning those, where is the difference between a spam bot poster in a shoutbox or a spam bot poster opening new threads with ugly stuff? You can spread more ugly stuff in new threads than with a shoutbox. ;)

With making a rules like only a member can post, it doesn't mean that less spam on the shout box would happen. Then again, if the problem is about member or not, isnt easy to be a member in forum like this? You can easily find several member with one post and zero activities like thanks or thanked thingy. That kind of 'outsider' might wanna post spam and rubbish stuff in the shout box. Plenty forum had dealt with it and decided to close that shout box.
Then again, why making another space for people to post ugly stuff or spam if they can make a thread with it? Double spam and rubbish stuff. One's enough. All the moderator and admin got their hand full already with spam thread stuff.

Yes, you don't like that and you have expressed that several times now. And by repeating that three times a day you're doing a good job to make my suggestion go to the trashbin right away.

The raised fears here could all be met with technically precautions, vb offers all that stuff.

One of a good example of a shoutbox is in ourgtn.org, in its heyday, members talk intellectually to each other or just to communicate live to fellow gay members. However, sometimes, the shoutbox could be just be empty of members and you end up chatting with yourself--so it depends on the days/hours. I stop using torrents on that site, but I mostly visit that site for the conversation of members.

If we do have a shoutbox, I hope it would be proprietary only to this forum. A shoutbox that is non-proprietary to the forum will perhaps slow down the browser for most members.

You can register a new account in less then a minute and continue with spaming there

You can spread more ugly stuff in new threads than with a shoutbox. ;)

That's probaby right but a shoutbox is public and once if something ugly is posted it will be visible on top of the mainpage for everyone at the same second. And theres not a mod or admin there all the time who can take action immediatly.

If something is happening in a single thread there are only a few ppl who might get attenion of it before its deleted.
