Black ice on the road in autumn 48 : A Citroën Traction on the roof, it is not common!
Left, one Ford F472 V8, a transition model, following the Matford F82 of before-war and replaced by the Ford Vedette in 1948.
These cars are manufactured by Ford SAF, the French subsidiary of the American constructor.
Background, a 7 tons Panhard truck.

It was hundred years ago.
Parked on the pavement, one Peugeot Quadrilette type 161 (early twenties).
On the street, a luxurious torpedo Panhard 20 CV type X29, without-valve motor (Knight licence) famous for its silent and its flexibility.
Special feature : The little blue smoke that is coming out from the exhaust pot, the sign of a big oil consumption.

A service-station typically sixties :
Right, one early 404 Peugeot, left, one Facel Vega Facel II powered by a big 6.3 liter V8 Chrysler. A good customer for the pump-attendant, I presume...

A country road in September 38 : This roadster Georges Irat type MM front-wheels-drive is powered by a small motor Ruby 5 CV. It is about to cross the brand new Citroën 15 Six. The engine of this Traction is like one and half 11 CV four-cylinder motor of its older sister (1911+956 = 2867 cm3). Only 2.000 15 Six saloon and familiale will be manufactured in 1939 before the production stop because of the war. On the right, a tractor Société Française Vierzon.

A Panhard 24 on the French vacation road Nationale 7 in summer 66. Thierry Dubois is a historian of this road as you can see above. On the right, the Simca Aronde Messagère (van) of a local farmer.

In 1948, only the happy few could drive the new Renault 4 CV, amazing with its motor at the back. On the other side, a Salmson S4 D 1937 changed into utilitarian vehicle like it was common at this time.

In the twenties, a lot of secondary roads are still of earth. This powerful torpedo Hispano Suiza type H6-32 CV-1924 leave a big cloud of dust behind it. In a hurry, its driver is passing a modest 10 CV Renault KZ type GS (1920). Behind the alligator bonnet of this famous model, there is the radiator then the gas tank, an arrangement kept during a long time by the constructor.

One spring weekend in 1959
From left to right on this dangerous three-way national road :
- Renault Galion truck type R 2168
- Citroën DS 19 early model 1956
- Simca Aronde Oceane line 1958 (last model before the P60).

What seat for the driver?
- The right one for this Bugatti coach Ventoux type 57 on the left (1936).
- The left one for that Citroën Traction 7 C or 11 Légère on the right.
- The middle one for this red Panhard Dynamic 1937 parked in front of the "Auberge des Voyageurs".
Really, the new Panhard collect the disadvantages of both first. The old constructor admit it quickly and choose the left driving for its interesting model in 1939.

Winter 67 on a Savoyard road : A Panhard 17 model 64 is crossing a coupé Peugeot 404 skies on the roof.
One Renault Dauphine is parked beside the service-station.

In 1998 when this drawing was published, it was the 50th anniversary of 2CV and 203 ... and the centenary of Renault.
On the left, it is a Peugeot 203 DS (for Darl'mat spéciale) model 51.
