What's the last or current Movie you Watched ?

THE LOST BUS (2025 - USA)

During the 2018 Camp Fire in Paradise, California, the deadliest wildfire in the state's history, 22 elementary school kids are stranded at their school as their families are unable to get them before the fires spread. Now one bus driver must attempt to drive the kids and a teacher to safety as the wildfire rages around them. Based on a true story. (IMdB)

2 Hours of high voltage! I always have to assume that this actually happened. Although the film is difficult to watch, I am of the opinion that the reality must have been significantly more traumatic. Watch it!

Thanks for the review - I grabbed a copy of this yesterday so it's on the USB for watching eventually.

MICKEY 17 (2025)

During a human expedition to colonize space, Mickey 17, a so-called "expendable" employee, is sent to explore an ice planet. Imdb

A dark satirical sci-fi from Bong Joon Ho starring Robert Pattinson and featuring Mark Ruffalo who is having lots of fun hamming it up to the max, It has a very surreal "plot" and is very funny in places and I loved the "creatures" looked very much like the incredible, but real & miniscule, Tardigrade

SMALL THINGS LIKE THESE (2024 - Ireland)

Reviewers say 'Small Things Like These' is a poignant drama exploring moral courage and community complicity. Praised for its atmospheric setting, strong performances, and evocative cinematography, it faces criticism for slow pacing and unclear narrative structure. The film's focus on the male protagonist and its portrayal of the Magdalene Laundries receive mixed reactions, with some appreciating its subtle approach and others finding it detracts from the central issue. (IMdB)

You will never, ever forget this movie again—and if you did, I'd bet you wouldn't feel anything! It was one of the very few times when we sit in front of the TV until the final credits ended. There is nothing more the Catholic Church can do to make up for what it has done to hurt people.
On IMdb you can read that Cillian Murphy (who is the lead in this film) is a fan of the film's original novel writer Claire Keegan. He remembers reading her novel "Foster" on a train and having to pull his hoodie over his face because he was crying. And let me say at the end here: I have had tears in my eyes too! And a last question: where is the justice?
VERY MUCH RECOMMENDED

SINNERS (2025)

Trying to leave their troubled lives behind, twin brothers return to their hometown to start again, only to discover that an even greater evil is waiting to welcome them back. Imdb

This Michael B Jordan movie got raved about. Yes the music is good; yes the cinematography is excellent, with some surreal scenes but I found the pacing a bit too slow and when the plot twist kicked in I gave up and hit the off button rather than sit through the last hour or so.

CAUGHT STEALING (2025)

Burned-out ex-baseball player Hank Thompson unexpectedly finds himself embroiled in a dangerous struggle for survival amidst the criminal underbelly of 1990s New York City, forced to navigate a treacherous underworld he never imagined. Imdb

I tried to enjoy this Darren Aronofsky directed, Austin Butler starring movie.... but failed and gave up at around 35mins. gangsters

Perhaps you should have stuck around to see the end. For me/us, it was very entertaining. ;)

PLAY DIRTY (2025)

A ruthless thief and his expert crew stumble onto the heist of a lifetime. Imdb

Forgettable and mindless are just 2 of the words you could use to describe this Mark Wahlberg "caper" movie... dumb and stupid are 2 more

ADULTHOOD (2025)

Siblings Megan and Noah discover a dead body, long buried in their parents' basement, sending them down a rabbit hole of crime and murder. Imdb

This dark comedy is not that funny and the plot just gets more ludicrous as it goes on.

MOERKELAND (Kingmaker) 2024 Denmark

Ulrik Torp, once a fearless investigative journalist who is now tackling unemployment and a midlife crisis. He finds himself in the middle of a new political conspiracy. (IMdB)

If you like political thriller, this will be a MUST-SEE for you. Highly recommended!

"Based on a true story" .. well I'm not sure how much of the on-screen story is true to life but I can confirm it's an intense ride.

We liked it too. A great movie for a gloomy October or November night—it will make you feel warm!;)

SAFE HOUSE (2025 - USA)
Six federal agents in hiding after LA terror attack grow suspicious of each other as they realize the perpetrator could be among them. (IMdB)

Oh my God, this was an extraordinary thriller. You ought to see it! It's thrilling beyond measure.

HIM (2025)

A young athlete descends into a world of terror when he's invited to train with a legendary champion whose charisma curdles into something darker. Imdb

This is one of those "style over content" movies. A good idea with some interesting cinematography but the plot, with the odd surreal dream moments which make no sense (see clip above) never gets anywhere. I stuck with it to see if it got better but should have switched off early.

I liked it but I kinda kept expecting the older QB to be slapstick crazy like in his other movies.. lol

STEVE (2025)

Follows headteacher Steve battling for his reform college's survival while managing his mental health. Concurrently, troubled student Shy navigates his violent tendencies and fragility, torn between his past and future prospects. Imdb

This is a difficult watch, not just because of the subject matter but the shaky hand held camera work and format switching. Killian Murphy leads an excellent cast. This is not a "Friday night; 6 pack of beers and pizza movie"

This is not a "Friday night; 6 pack of beers and pizza movie" These are the real words to describe this film. I'm a fan of
Killian Murphy - but here??? You are totally right: This is a difficult watch!

THE YOUNG SAVAGES (1961 - USA b/w)
A district attorney investigates the racially charged case of three teenagers accused of the murder of a blind Puerto Rican boy. He begins to discover that the facts in the case aren't exactly as they seem to be. (IMdB)

Yes, correct - a black-and-white film from 1961! First, I thought: well, a film from before Christ and black-and white ... grrr!
But I was really fascinated. Great action from Burt Lancaster and all the others. And this was a story from 64 years before...
But believe me, this story is so true and so modern and could be transferred one-to-one to our time today. So nothing has changed in all these years --- only the names and the outfits! Recommended!
