What's the last or current Movie you Watched ?

Pompeii, just so I could see Kit Harrington in the buff.

We're The Millers
I laugh like a hyena in the skateboard drawing scene.

Amazing Spider-man 2.

Mixed reaction to this one. It is too long and meandering for the material presented. The writing drifts between competent and professional to embarrassingly amateurish. The cast does an excellent job with what they're given. But I do long for the day when Sony loses the rights to the Spider-man franchise and they return to the control of Marvel/Disney. These mash up scripts of the last 4 movies are simply painful to endure.

It is painful to have the origin of every character, good and bad, tied to OsCorp.
It is painful to see villains recast in Ultimate revisions/ "Hollywood" real. -3 tries at the Goblin and all of them bad. The Mech Rhino is laughably bad. The reveal of Peter's father's secret lair.... so, so painfully bad.

On the plus side, Peter Parker is beautifully envisioned. And his relationship to Gwen Stacy is perfectly on point. (Although with a few too many scenes making the same point again and again.)

Not worth rushing out to a theater. But not a movie to leave you wishing you had 2 and a half hours of your life back. (Only wishing for a half hour of your life back.)

And compared to the news leaking out about the Fantastic Four (!!!), this movie is a classic for the ages. And it's not even good.

Frankenstein (I wish I didn't buy this crappy movie)
The Devil wears Prada

Better than I was expecting, a taught compelling thriller

Recently saw "12 Years a Slave" followed fairly shortly by "Belle." Superficially related (free slaves living under enormous constraints to freedom). "12 Years" is definitely rooted in fact--historical documents, a book contemporary with the events) whereas "Belle" is virtually pure conjecture based on a 19th century painting and a few facts. The difference accounts for the lack of real impact in "Belle" versus a powerful powerful experience observing "12 Years." Both are well worth the cost of seeing them in a theatre & not on a small TV screen.
