Aura (2014)



Four kids wake up in the morning in an abandoned field only to find that the Sun did not rise. As darkness covers them the whole day, with no hope of light, they must face mysteries rooted deep in mankind's very beginning.

This was a rather interesting watch. I found it on Amazon Prime and the story line sounded pretty good. Turned out to be Hungarian made so it was all subtitled and the sound track was just a bit off. But it was still pretty good. There are only the four characters in the whole movie, and the only set is their car and a 15 meter diameter dome centered over the car. It is an alien intervention movie, but not how you would think in the end.

I'll give it a thumbs up. :thumbs up:

SOPHIE'S CHOICE a drama from 1982 by Alan J. Pakula and starring Meryl Streep (who got for it her Best Actress Oscar), Kevin Kline and Peter McNicol. When I heard it lasted for 150 minutes my thoughts were Oh my God much too long - but it was honestly worth every minute.

So where to begin with this one:?....I suppose by saying that at about 25/30 mins. in I had to hit the eject button - WTF ? overkill ... maybe I just wasn't in the right mood for such a piece of work (Is there a right frame of mind for Ink?). it would be an understatement to say that Ink is a strange and powerful film, highly visual and with a really effective atmospheric soundtrack. Generally the "plot" is centred around 2No. groups of "entities" that come to sleeping humans, one that dispense sweet pleasant dreams and then there are the others - the dark ones who are the givers of nightmares then there seems to be this other one who belongs to neither side who kidnaps the girl, or at least her life-force such that her physical boby ends up in a kind of coma... and that's as far as I got on the 1st viewing. It was obviously made on low budget and some bits are very rough quality and some of the acting is a bit low par... amateurs maybe helping to keep within budget?.. I was drawn to it by some good reviews seemingly comparing it in terms of a cult classic along with Tarsem's awesome The Fall ; Royston Tan's 15; the Sth Korean original of Oldboy and of course Donnie Darko, so no suprises as to why Jimmy thinks " I gotta get hold of a copy of this"

I definitely will give this another watch when I think I will be in the right frame of mind for it (whatever frame that is).....it's certainly different and if you've had a gut full of Hollywood studio produced crap and want to try something challenging and you see DVD copy grab it and give it a go... you never know...................:thinking: :?
