I'm talking about the wiser gentleman 40+ if there are any here...


Do you believe in love? why?
Have you found love? (I dont accept, a year or two relationships more than that hopefully a lot more)
Or do you know of other friends maybe who have found love for a few years now?

Hmmmm..you realize the touchy part...is admitting to being part of the 40+ crowd:worried:...lol

I used to want and pursue love so aggressively....guess cause I had an emptiness I was trying to fill....I tried love, sex, drugs...and I suppose rock n roll too...to fill that emptiness. But maybe....age has taught me...that the emptiness was...me not loving myself. And honestly, I don't think I have that all figured out yet. :?

I have had lots of love in my life...but for me...it has also bought me lots of pain too; but maybe that is normal, not sure. There are lots of different types of love and I have had them all. I think the truest, deepest love...is something that you never loose.

I never had that deep love for any of my ex wives, lol, and I don't really have much use for any of them today. But an ex GF, I was engage to twice (and she is my current stalker), I was and am deeply in love with her and have been for 10 years:x. I just can't be with her or live with her (I can't happily live with any woman) ; but my love for her, will be forever.

When it comes to guys, it has been much more of an "all or nothing" kind of thing. I have had many non-love sex only encounters in my life...very empty. Have had 2 guys with very intense love with intense sex. The relationships didn't last (both less than a year), but the feelings have.

As I have gotten older, the sex does become less important. I suppose what I am looking for now, more than anything....is someone who I can really connect with ("love bond" I suppose) intellectually, emotionally, spiritually, and the sex...has become more of a secondary consideration.

My failures in love...I think are related to 4 things:
Lack of loving myself
Some ppl I loved were not worthy of it
Sometimes I was just too fucking horny
and lastly...I haven't met "him" yet:dreaming:lol

I set out from the moment I left High School to find the one and only love of my life. I had finally accepted I was gay, I had accepted that my only hope was leaving New Jersey and moreso being away from my family so after a short stint in college in Georgia, I moved to California where despite all the free-for-all sexual happenings at the time I did find that one person I knew would be with me forever. It didnt end up that way but we were together for 19 years. He passed away. I loved every minute of it. For me it was true love. In retrospect, so much could have been different, so much could have been better but we did the best we could considering our cirstances and we always knew we had each other. So, I know love exists between 2 people because I've been there but it also takes a great big heart, plenty of compromise, loads of patience and the desire to want to love one person for better or for worse, no matter how cheesy that sounds. And many thanks for calling us 40+ the wiser crowd...lol

and yes, Ive seen many ppl in what looks like true love (but im not sure I can know that really, im not them) lol

im sorry guys I didnt mean to discourage you guys you guys still are young you aren't 70 I just didnt want 20 yr olds or teenagers to respond because we have tons more left we havent experienced and you guys are much wiser than us and have really grown up so I wanted ur point of view. no harm intended.

I still feel 20 ish and probably act it at times lol I'm happy not to be though, I've always liked my age whatever it was, and actually felt happier the older I got.

Yes love exists, but sometimes it sadly doesn't last a lifetime. I do know one gay couple who, despite various problems, still love each other and stick by each other through anything!! They are a model for anyone.

On the other hand a "perfect" couple of hetero friends , married and were together from first meeting what must have been about 20 years! Then I think she got bored It finished!

For me, one thing age has taught me is to stop actively looking, it finds you when you least expect it. Casual sex has long ceased to be important and sex without meaning is now hollow. I wouldn't want sex again unless I had at least some feeling for the other guy (or girl).

Maybe I've found him, time will tell
