I think that the church should keep to its remit of teaching the world about forgiveness, tolerance and well being and stop entering political debate about anything.
They are diametrically opposite. even back in our own British history 900 years ago the people at that time worshiped god only not politics.
The new best selling novel of all time had just reached our shores and was translated, together with the other propaganda of other faiths to make people understand that brainwashing was now the vogue of generations to come.
The church at that time saw the huge significance of the money it could make and then decided to meddle in politics, trying to challenge all the monarchs until Oliver Cromwell took over, then politics really got hold of religion and has never been stopped since all the over the world.
Quakers and baptists traveled to America, when we once tried owning it, and all hell let loose, leaving a lot of Americans being either paranoid, religious bigots,or male chauvinists and some even believe in UFO's. strange that they still believe in god at the same time lol
The sound knowledge of earths birth with the big bang still hasn't stopped the brainwashing of people worldwide, and terrible atrocities are done in the name of religion. when will people wake up, smell the coffee and stop trying to control other peoples lives, whether gay straight or lesbian, we all have the right to co exist with one another as we all have something to give to society as a whole. the only people who should be constrained are bigots, Homophobes and Nazis' and chauvinists.
Politics after all should be a democratic process and if people stop being brainwashed it will sought itself out in the very end. but my answer to the original question is NO we have a hell of a long way to go, in my 60 plus years i have seen a lot achieved but in some things it is 2 steps forward and 1 step back, so we all need to be diligent and keep educating people that being gay is not a fucking lifestyle, and straight people do not own the world we live in.
Nature owns the world and by "whoever" don't cross it as it bites back.
