And we still have not yet evolved beyond the need for meat (sorry to X-man and the rest of the granola brigade, but it's a fact) Meat-eating was and is essential for human evolution, it was a meat diet, full of densely-packed nutrients, that provided the catalyst for human evolution, particularly the growth of the brain. If proto-humans hadn't eaten meat, we'd still be swinging in the jungle with the rest of the monkeys...
