If you wish for more details about old cars I present, don't hesitate to PM me. I should be very happy to be more precise about some models or constructors even if they are not my favorites. :)

SIMCA-FIAT then SIMCA

The first Simca were only some Fiat assembled in France. Here a saloon 11 CV 1935.

Simca 5 - 1936 (derived from Fiat 500 "topolino")

Simca 8 - 1938 (derived from Fiat 508C Nuova Balilla)

Last Simca 8 1200 beside first Simca 9 Aronde at Nanterre near Paris (1951). Aronde was the first "true" Simca and allowed this constructor to become the second french one behind Renault in 1957.

Simca Week-End, the convertible version of the coach De Ville, behind - 1955

Actress Brigitte Bardot relaxing in front of a Simca Week-End.

Simca Plein Ciel - 1958 (a little Ford Thunderbird!)

Simca Aronde P 60 - 1961

A problem for all the constructors : how to attract people when you have no news at the catalog ?

A 2 CV flowers pot on the Citroën stand in 1966 that was a very calm year for it. This "car" was allways attractive for motorshow visitors (me first ;)).

Simca had not some 2 CV to present then it made dream public. Here some nice Martians ! (1954)

Simca Fulgur, the car of two thousand year in 1958.

Simca again : Talbot Star Six created by Virgil Exner Jr in USA and exposed at Paris Motorshow 1959. This futurist car made starting an old Simca 8 plateform, enhance the value of the (barely) new Aronde Etoile 6.

The rocket Rush on the Simca stand in 1960, it was to much for the staff of the motorshow that made it dismantle for officially some safety reasons.

Above, a Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud of the same time to show you that Bentley and Rolls-Royce had barely the same cars at their catalog starting the sixtees. Only the grille with the famous "Flying Lady" allowed to distinguish a Rolls. This prestigious constructor was the owner of Bentley since 1931. However Bentley kept a sport image that Rolls did'nt have, with for example a beautiful Mulsanne Turbo in the eighties.

PANHARD ET LEVASSOR (1890 - 1967)

With Armand Peugeot, René Panhard (above left) was the first in the world to commercialize a petroleum vehicle in 1891. At the beginning his company made some machines for working wood. Then, by Emile Levassor (above right) his associate, he got the licence to make some petroleum motors Daimler. He assembled also this engine for Peugeot. Each created his vehicle. At this time all these men knew each other. Gottlieb Daimler worked a long time at Panhard. Abbot Gavois (below photo) bought the Panhard number two that he kept 30 years. Automobile is a german-french invention : the motor is german (Daimler-Maybach for the patents), commercialization is french.

Type A - 1890

Jean Panhard (left), grandnephew of René Panhard and my ex-boss, driving the first Panhard for the centenary event of the firm.

Type A2 - 1900

18 HP - 1908

Landaulet - 1908

X 19 - 1913

1991 : Panhard centenary event at Paris, Avenue d'Ivry where travelled the first petroleum car tested by Emile Levassor, mechanical and race-driver too.

Panhard "Sans Soupapes" (without valves) from 1912 to 1939

S letter on each side of the logo Panhard-Levassor to distinguish the cars equiped of one without valves engine.
During a long time both types of motor were produced by the constructor.

Drawings of the system "without valves" licence Knight. Peugeot, Voisin and Minerva used also this technology.

20 HP - 1912

6 CS - 1933

6 CS Limousine - 1931

35 HP - 1934 - Speed record car assembled on a frame 8 DS (8 cylinders)

Panoramique - 1934

The uprights of the panoramic windows are so thin that the eye forgets them. At least that is what the advertising photo proves.

Drawing of Alex Kow

Dynamic - 1937
Special feature of this spacious model : 3 front comfortable seats with the wheel nearly in the middle. This controversial arrangement was left in 1938.

One of the biggest monocoque body ever made

Peugeot has allways called its cars with some numbers, model after model.
Starting type 201, there is some logic in the system : the first number indicates the class of the model inside the range Peugeot, in the middle we find allways number 0, the third indicates the generation. This method is still used today with sometimes two 0 in the middle.
Above we have a 201 coach model 1930

201 C - 1932

301 - 1933

401 Eclipse - 1935
This model with moving roof was designed by the dentist car passionate Georges Paulin, bodyworked by Marcel Pourtout and sold by the big parisian dealership Emile Darl'Mat. It was available on the frame 301, 401, 601 then 302 and 402

601 Eclipse - 1935

This special 601 bodyworked by Pourtout in 1935, the personal car of Marcel Pagnol, had the system Eclipse also called Paulin. We can see this car in the movie "Le Schpountz" with Fernandel.

402 Andreau - 1936
Designed by the aerodynamician engineer Andreau.

402 DS - 1938 (DS for Darl'Mat Sport)

402 DS race car - 1938

402 B Light - 1938

That artwork of Alexis Kow is wonderful, I adore it. Thank you for posting. Let's see some more of his work.

He was brilliant at drawing lots of other subjects too but that would be off topic. There is so much optimism in this work, the promise of better times thanks to internal combustion.
