Clip? Or File?

Do you clip your nails? Or file?

I used to clip them but for the past few years I’ve filed them.

My nails began splitting when I clipped them and my sister told me to file them instead. I did and voila no more split nails. They seem stronger now too. I like the smooth finish a lot more also.

I play classical guitar so filing and polishing with fine sandpaper is required for my right hand. I clip my left hand fingernails and my toenails.

I've got this nasty little habit of taking my thumbnail from my right hand and tearing off the nails from left hand and tearing off my nails on my right hand with my left thumbnail. Most of the time I use my right thumbnail for all of my toenails.
It leaves them jagged and uneven . I guess that qualifies as clip :blushing:

I am a nail biter myself. The toenails I tend to pick at though and then sometimes I have to clip them because I do not have enough of any fingernails to pick at them with.

I've got this nasty little habit of taking my thumbnail from my right hand and tearing off the nails from left hand and tearing off my nails on my right hand with my left thumbnail.

I do the same thing with mine, I never thought of it as nasty though. I then smooth them out with nippers. I keep longer thumbnails in case any of my older furr babies get a flea, as I don't use chemicals on older cats so I pop em.
