Not sure what is meant by this comment. Are you saying that Germans don't understand human rights and therefore need to be reminded? Are you stating that Japanese don't understand or follow the Geneva Convention? Or do you mean that it needs to be chained to the nightstand because Japanese steal? Or are you referring to events that took place before either you or probably your father were born?

If anyone at all remember comments I leave in essentially pornographic forum such as this, Japan is not only my first choice for visiting but also my ideal country to live in. Orderly, gentle, civilized, cultured people. One and only one thing keeps nagging at me, their continuing inability to explain their barbarous atrocity in war.

Thank you for clarifying. I am not an apologist for Japan, but I believe that the events that led to Japan's nationalism and enslavement of other Asian countries are complex. I can sympathize with your concerns.

I would add that few countries ever admit, explain, or apologize for their past atrocities. My own country, the US, is only three hundred years old, yet the number of atrocities it has committed is staggering. However, being victorious, it has not had to or been asked to do the kind of soul-searching we have demanded of the Germans or Japanese.
