In 1942, Jimi Hendrix was born in Seattle, Washington. He was a legendary electric guitarist whose music inspired a generation. While this talented recording artist was only 27-years-old at the time of his passing, Hendrix left his mark on the world of rock music and remains popular to this day. As one journalist wrote in the Berkeley Tribe, "Jimi Hendrix could get more out of an electric guitar than anyone else. He was the ultimate guitar player."

He could do just about anything with an electric guitar - a totally spectacular instrumentalist AND an incredibly sexy black man.

The following YT clip is from his performance at Woodstock festival in 1969. Jimi plays the US national anthem "The Star Sprangled Banner" and in his performance - without uttering a single word - puts in all his sadness and anger about what the US were doing in Vietnam. If there ever was a piece of political music in the late 1960's, this is it! And once again: without Jimi saying a single word. It's the electric guitar doing all the talking!

- to elect the National Committee of the Liberation of Yugoslavia, based in Jajce, to act as the temporary government;

In this connection I must think full of grief of the victims of the air-crash in Colombia yesterday. And the horrible reason: lack of fuel!!!!! :angry: It is not understandable for me! ~X(

In 1919, the Quebec Bridge opened for rail traffic after nearly two decades of construction. It was major engineering achievement in its day, was considered as the eighth Wonder of the World upon its completion. At 1,800 feet, it is the longest cantilever railroad span ever built. It is also 67 feet wide and can accommodate two sets of railway tracks, two sets of streetcar tracks, and two roadways.

In 1952, heavy smog begins to hover over London. It persists for four days, leading to the deaths of at least 4,000 people. London's air may appear much cleaner today, but is still dangerously polluted. The coal pollution that caused the infamous 'pea soupers' has been replaced by invisible pollution – mainly from traffic fumes – resulting in 13,000 early deaths each year in the UK and 4,300 in London.

In 2008, the Associated Press reported that the US military used loud music to "create fear, disorient and prolong capture shock" for prisoners at military detention centers at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. Among the songs blasted 24 hours a day were 'Born In The USA' by Bruce Springsteen, 'Hell's Bells' by AC/DC, 'White America' by Eminem, 'The Theme From Sesame Street' and 'I Love You' from the Barney and Friends children's TV show.

Part of the reason, I am sure, I stay away from Époisse and Limburger. On the other hand, it could have been the boredom induced by the depressive ugliness of Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan.

Whatever the reason may have been, I really enjoy all your historic posts.
