Fences (2016)

The film "Fences", based on the 1987 Pulitzer Prize winning play and screenplay by the brilliant playwright August Wilson, is a realistic portrayal of an African American family in the 50's. The whole movie is one long conversation but it never gets boring. This is like a Tarantino movie without the action. :p

Sunday Movie Night

Neighbors 2 (2016)

I usually write lengthy reviews of movies, but honestly, this time I can't - this one was just terrible. If this is the best Hollywood can do, they are done for. HOLLYWOOD COMEDY IS DEAD!

Baywatch (2017)

I don't know why I still keep expecting a half descent movie with Zac Effron in it!?! I guess it is my fault for trying to sit trough the entire movie and expecting something more than dick jokes. But I guess some audiences will fall for this...

Quand on a 17 ans (2016)

After watching another crappy movie, I decided to rewatch a touching drama about raging hormones, bullying and sexual awakening directed by the post-New Wave French director André Téchiné.

The movie is not about deciding whether you’re gay or straight (btw, those terms are never spoken). It’s about the chemistry of two people at a moment in time. Incredible scenery, soundtrack to it, beautiful and deeply developed characters, tender love story, etc. A MASTERPIECE.

The Lost City of Z.
- A great performance of Charlie Hunnam. I'm expecting a little more harsh adventure in the river, but this also not bad.

The Zoo Keeper's Wife.
- I almost cried when Nazi killed the animals, horrible. I think it's a great movie, a predictable plot I must say. I love Jessica, but I can't stand her character accent.

The Maze Runner.
- Great movies. Original idea. Entertaining.

The Maze Runner : Scorch Trials.
- Although still a great movie but the idea is not so original anymore. I see I Am Legend, I see World War Z and I see 5th Wave.

Sing Street (2016)

Director John Carney returns with another addictive musical masterpiece called Sing Street. It's a movie about a schoolboy forming a band to try and impress a girl. It's a pleasing, heart-warming journey with a tight screenplay and a strong soundtrack. It's like Say Anything meets Billy Elliott meets The Commitments - in the best possible way. If you like 80's music you'll love this movie!

Brendan: How d'you know he's her boyfriend anyway?

Conor: It seemed like it. Pulled off in his car, music blaring. He's pretty cool.

Brendan: What was he listening to?

Conor: Genesis.

Brendan: He will not be a problem.

Conor: Really?

Brendan: Trust me. No woman can truly love a man who listens to Phil Collins.
