Win Win (2011)

A struggling lawyer and volunteer wrestling coach's chicanery comes back to haunt him when the grandson of the client he has double-crossed comes into his life.

I really enjoyed this film. There is a lightness in the telling of the story, which makes the whole experience a pleasure, but it is a story with some difficult issues to set before us, issues such as the care of the elderly and the rights of birth-parents over foster-parents, which give us food for thought.

The Babysitter

This was a Netflix movie and it was pretty good. It's a horror movie in the way of Hocus Pocus. You'll have to go find the preview, but if you watch the movie I'm sure you will get a good laugh and have a good time. It's a very good comic horror.

Pure escapist, but at times violent fun. There is a scene where you think - So that's what made them cast him as 007 . There is just I frame of it on the trailer at around 1:13... he gets to pick up a gun and moves around the flat, peering around doorways etc just like he would do 4 yrs later as James Bond

Brooklyn (2015)

Brooklyn, based on the novel of the same name by Colm Toibin, tells the profoundly moving story of Eilis Lacey (amazing performance by Saoirse Ronan), a young Irish immigrant navigating her way through 1950s Brooklyn.

The immigrant story is one that has been told countless times over, but director John Crowley’s moving and funny Brooklyn brings a degree of empathy to this particular tale that is rare. His direction is impeccable.

People have spoken about how understated and old-fashioned Brooklyn is, but don't be fooled. Brooklyn is big-hearted, romantic and beautiful.

Brooklyn was. nominated for Best Picture for Oscars 2016. The film also received 2 other nominations: Actress in a Leading Role and Adapted Screenplay.

Manchester by the Sea (2016)

item197994.jpg

After the sudden death of his older brother, Lee (played by Casey Affleck) is made legal guardian of his son Patrick. He then returns to his hometown and is forced to deal with a tragic past that separated him from his family and the community he was born and raised in.

Casey Affleck's performance in "Manchester By The Sea" is one of the most effectively crafted portrayals of the crippling weight of grief in recent movies.

It's not an easy movie, and the slow pace might bore some viewers, but it's the perfect film for those who are looking for a mature and believable story. It's painful and tragic, yet it's cut with elements of humor and laughter. Just like life.

Hello Haiducii - you know I'm following always very interested "your" movies. So as well BROOKLYN - here you nailed it with your very good description. I followed it and too I found a wonderful and touchingly movie.

But here I cannot follow. MANCHESTER BY THE SEA . You are writing from a "slow-pacing" film. For us it was more than that: only BORING!
But it is our opinion - there's no accounting for taste.

A political thriller set against the backdrop of corruption in the oil industry. It can seen slow at times and requires concentration to keep track of the diverse storylines but IMHO is worth sticking with.
