Just a teaser trailer so as not to give too much away. I really enjoyed this (and not just because the last two movies I watched were bleak uncompromising films). It's an intriguing plot and beautifully filmed, okay when you have Macau and Hong Kong as your backdrop that shouldn't be hard but even so the cinematography shines through. As to the cast Colin Farrell puts in a fantastic performance...

I'm totally with you! We've watched this film some days ago, mostly because we like Colin Farrell! The film really is worth watching.

I am a Stephen King fan and I LOVED the novel and have re-read it several times - I just hope the movie does it justice? Some movie adaptations of books are good - others are terrible

Perhaps the book will be better, I don't know. As I've said, the film isn't bad but .....! But it is only my opinion!
Only a question: is the story real or only a bad dream????

I enjoyed this dumb-but-fun dark comedy. it's at times manic and at times very funny and also very violent.

GOOD FORTUNE (2025)

A well-meaning but rather inept angel named Gabriel meddles in the lives of a struggling gig worker and a wealthy venture capitalist. Imdb

An enjoyable if patchy light-hearted movie about life swaps. The main cast, Seth Rogen; Keanu Reeves; Keke Palmer and Aziz Ansari (who also wrote and directed) are all fine. Worth a watch

PATRIOT GAMES (1992 - USA)

Former CIA analyst, Jack Ryan, is in England with his family on vacation when he suddenly witnesses an explosion outside Buckingham Palace. It is revealed that some people are trying to abduct a member of the Royal Family, but Jack intervenes, killing one of them and capturing the other and stops the plan in its tracks. Afterward, he learns that they're Irish revolutionaries, and the two men are brothers. During his court hearing, the one that's still alive vows to get back at Jack but is sentenced, and that seems to be the end of it. However, while the man is being transported, he is broken out. Jack learns of this but doesn't think there's anything to worry about, but when he is at the Naval Academy, someone tries to kill him. He learns that they are also going after his family, and so he rushes to find them: safe but having also been the victims of a failed assassination. That's when Jack decides to rejoin the CIA, and they try to find the man before he makes another attempt. (IMdB)

CLEAR AND PRESENT DANGER (1994 - USA)

Jack Ryan is back, and this time the bad guys are in his own government. When Admiral James Greer becomes sick with cancer, Ryan is appointed acting CIA Deputy Director of Intelligence. Almost before he can draw a breath in his new position, one of the president's closest friends and his family are murdered in their sleep by what appears to be drug cartels. Ryan is called in to investigate, but unknown to him the CIA has already sent a secret field operative to lead an illegal paramilitary force in Colombia against the cartels. Things get even more complicated when his team is set up and he loses an agent in the field and a friend of his wife's, who was the murdered agent's secretary, is murdered that same day. Two great films from the past - but in my opinion much better than some of the action flicks from today. Even though I don't like Harrison Ford, he was fantastic in this role and believable as an action hero, even though he didn't believe he was one.
If you like really good old action movies - this is a recommendation! Try it and you will have a good movie evening.

Two great films from the past - but in my opinion much better than some of the action flicks from today. Even though I don't like Harrison Ford, he was fantastic in this role and believable as an action hero, even though he didn't believe he was one.
If you like really good old action movies - this is a recommendation! Try it and you will have a good movie evening.

I think CLEAR AND PRESENT DANGER is the much better film as it doesn't have that terrible actor Sean Bean in it. The only films I can enjoy that have him in are the LORD OF THE RINGS and RONIN as he doesn't have much to say in either and dies early on.

DRACULA : A LOVE TALE (2025)

So this year we have seen legendary director Guillermo Del Toro return to a classic, Frankenstein, for a re-make and sadly fail to make a truly memorable version and now we have legendary director Luc Besson return to a classic, Dracula, and he too sadly fails to make a truly memorable version even though Caleb Landry Jones gives an excellent performance.

The always good Christoph Waltz is in both - but we shouldn't blame him.

A notable directorial debut incorporating 3:2 aspect ratio and all of the memory/flashbacks are on Super8 handycam and some will find the grainy hand-held work distracting but stick with it as the 2 leads Russell Tovey and Ton Blyth are both excellent

This is a wonderful, quiet and very emotional film from the great Francois Ozon! If you like action - go away! But if you
like an amazing story about love, loss and friendship, this will be your film! I will highly recommend it!

Based on Denis Johnson's beloved novella, Train Dreams is the moving portrait of Robert Grainier, a logger and railroad worker who leads a life of unexpected depth and beauty in the rapidly-changing America of the early 20th Century. Imdb

A moving portrait of a life, beautifully told - in narration and minimal dialogue with a haunting soundtrack and sumptuous cinematography. Not a tremendous amount happens, but it happens in a heart-warming and touching way. A great underplayed performance from Joel Edgerton, ably supported by Felicity Jones; William H Macy; Kerry Condon & Clifton Collins Jr.

The Maze Runner.

I finally watched the The Maze Runner. Didn't enjoy it as much as I'd hoped, but I will still watch the two sequels soon.
This was only the 2nd time I've seen Dylan O'Brien in a movie. 1st time was when he played Dan Akroyd in Saturday Night.

BTW Dylan has some nice dance moves.

It's not a movie, but I just started re-watching "The Night Manager" on Amazon Prime. It has Tom Hiddleston and Olivia Coleman investigating an arms trafficker played by Hugh Laurie. It's based on a John LeCarre novel. It originated on BBC1 and is really well done.

Olivia Coleman and Benedict Cumberbatch star in this romantic comedy. Ncuti Gatwa and SNL's Andy Samberg and Kate McKinnon also star.

A well written and well performed movie. Olivia Coleman has the best lines- no major spoiler but there is a dinner party scene that's LMAO
