My ''Indian'' Movie Sunday Afternoon

The Hundred-Foot Journey (2014) is a movie about good food, and one man's passion for cooking. In other words, it's a food porn with a sweet albeit predictable menu served by Swedish director Lasse Hallström.

The Second Best Exotic Marigold Hotel (2015) is likable. The first Exotic Hotel was lovable. That's the difference. Chances are, if you liked The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel, you'll like the second best one as well.

The Only Living Boy In New York

I didn't care for it, but Callum Turner (main character) is kind of cute.

BANG, BANG YOU'RE DEAD a film which will get under your skin!!! The start is a little slow - but ...... In the end you are sitting there with open mouth and tears in your eyes - and you will ask yourself: am I really innocent?
Very recommended.

Apprentice (2016)

A 28-year-old Malay correctional officer is the star of local filmmaker Boo Junfeng’s latest psychological drama. Recently transferred to a top prison, he meets a 65-year-old sergeant and veteran chief executioner, the same man who pulled the plug on his father’s life.

At first "Apprentice" seems to be a basic revenge film in which Aiman stalks the man who killed his father. But it becomes psychologically more complex ...

Highly recommended for those who are looking for different movies.

I watched Fantastic Beasts on HBO. Very hard to hear--the main actor mumbled too much.

Just we have watched KHARTOUM a film from 1966 - but what a masterpice! 51 years old and so convenient to our time from today. The story of the Mahdi who wanted to flood the world with his brutal Islamic creed. This happened in 1885 - and today we have IS and its fellow brethren. New York again is a KHARTOUM, Paris, Nizza, Brussels, Berlin and London are a KHARTOUM. History is repeating!

The Dark Tower

I'll just start out by saying that if you are a fan of the book series you are going to want to NOT see the movie. I spent most of my junior and senior years of high school reading the series and hoping that someday a movie would be made of them. But I knew that was going to be a daunting task. As soon as I saw who was cast for The Man in Black and Roland, I knew it wasn't going to be a serious take on the books. Sure enough I was right. I think they got the casting for Jake close, he at least resembles the character that I had built in my head from the books. Matthew and Idris were not even close. Basing it on the books, the movie gets ZERO stars.

Now if you take the movie away from the books, then it gets a little better. But because the books have so much more explanation in them as to what is going on there is a lot in the movie that just wasn't explained. What the Dark Tower is, is one of them. What is a gunslinger? Why does The Man in Black want it destroyed?

If you like Stephen King there are a few references to other books. There was a theme park called Pennywise, and Jake has "the shine". So if you can separate the movie from the books, then I would give it a 1 1/2 stars out of five.

All in all, if you paid more than $1.50 for a Redbox rental, you paid to much.
