AUSTRIA: The Makemakes - I Am Yours

orfmarcobr.jpg

In an exciting show last night, Austria picked their act to defend last year's victory on home ground: The Makemakes will sing I Am Yours on stage in Vienna. The show was presented by popular host Mirjam Weichselbraun, who will also be one of the presenters of the 2015 Eurovision Song Contest in May. The Makemakes are a rock band consisting of Dodo (Dominic) Muhrer, Max (Markus) Christ, and Flo (Florian) X. Meindl. Their band name originates from a dwarf planet which was in fact named after the Easter Island god of Makemake. Just one month after their foundation they released their first single The Lovercall which entered the Austrian charts, just like their latest single Million Euro Smile.

Here's a YouTube clip from the competition Talent Sweden 2014 which Jon Henrik won, and he's jojking his best friend Daniel who passed away a few years ago. And no, he doesn't jojk about Daniel, he's jojking Daniel. Just as you - if you're Sami - can jojk your best raindeer or the mountain Storvätteshogna. Jon Henrik is a serious cutiepie and I wish him all the best!

Jon Henrik FTW!

But I think the swedes will choose Mans Zelmerloew... :worried:

You're right Mari0, Måns Zelmerlöv won - one of the biggest margins to no 2 in the history of Melodifestivalen. And no 2 was - Jon Henrik...:thumbs up:

SWEDEN: Måns Zelmerlöw - Heroes

mansvinnar.jpg

The Swedish national selection for the Eurovision Song Contest, Melodifestivalen 2015, came to an end. After a six-shows-long tour, the international juries and the Swedish viewers decided that the honour of representing Sweden in Vienna goes to Måns Zelmerlöw with the song Heroes. Last night it was finally time to choose the Swedish contestant for the 2015 Eurovision Song Contest as the final of Melodifestivalen took place on in Stockholm's Friends Arena. After the 11 international juries (Armenia, Belgium, Cyprus, Estonia, France, Israel, Malta, The Netherlands, Slovenia, United Kingdom and Austria) and the Swedish audience casted their votes it was clear that Måns Zelmerlöw will represent Sweden in Vienna with the song Heroes.

NORWAY: Mørland & Debrah Scarlett - A Monster Like Me

img009gtg.jpg

We can always rely on broadcaster NRK to put on a spectacular show and last night was no exception. The 2015 edition of Melodi Grand Prix had everything; an orchestra, 11 fantastic acts, lots of history and an audience that just kept giving. However, it all boiled down to finding Norway's representative for Vienna who were Mørland & Debrah Scarlett with the song A Monster Like Me. What a show! This year at Melodi Grand Prix, NRK put a lot of emphasis on the history of the competition, as not only is it 60 years since the first ever Eurovision Song Contest took place, it is also 30 years since Bobbysocks won in 1985 with the song La det swinge and 20 years since Secret Garden won with Nocturne in 1995!

ALBANIA: Elhaida Dani - I'm Alive

elhaidadan.jpg

Three weeks ago the Albanian public broadcaster has announced that Elhaida Dani will sing the song I'm Alive, written by Kosovo Albanian song writers Zzap & Chris, in the 2015 Eurovision Song Contest in Vienna. Elhaida Dani is a real star not only in her home country Albania but also in Italy: Since winning The Voice of Italy in 2013, she has had many successful releases and tours. Reaching the first place in Festivali i Këngës in December 2014 gained her the right to represent Albania in the 2015 Eurovision Song Contest.

AZERBAIJAN: Elnur Huseynov - Hour Of The Wolf

c8a7713c.jpg

Elnur Huseynov will represent Azerbaijan in the 2015 Eurovision Song Contest. He has been internally chosen by ITV, the Azerbaijani broadcaster İctimai Television. He is not new in the Europe’s favourite TV show and the Eurovision family. He will take the Eurovision stage for a second time. In 2008 as a part of Elnur & Samir duo with the song Day After Day, he reached the eighth place in the Grand Final. This year, Elnur will sing his mystical contemporary ballad Hour Of The Wolf. In February this year, Elnur won the fourth season of Turkish version of the The Voice. In the final battle he set up a record in the televoting history of the show by collecting over a million votes.

SAN MARINO: Michele Perniola & Anita Simoncini - Chain Of Lights

mg0166.jpg

Last night on the news programme of SMRTV, viewers had their first look at this year's entry from San Marino, as they presented a short extract from the song Chain Of Light to be performed by Michele Perniola and Anita Simoncini. The San Marino broadcaster (SMRTV) were amongst the first countries to reveal who would be representing them in Vienna, It was back in November 2014 that it was announced that two junior Eurovision stars Michele Perniola and Anita Simoncini would be flying the flag for the microstate. As they are both going to be 16 next year, it could turn out that Michele and Anita are going to be considered as the youngest duo in the history of the Eurovision Song Contest.

I remember her wonderful voice very well, so sad that less than a week after winning 'The Voice' she was almost forgotten in Italy :(

We live in a world of instant pop stars ;)

UK to get zero points

No no no ! it's a very uptempo electro-swing song.... it reminds me the music that was in Baz Lurhmann' Gatsby The Great.... I'm sure this one will be in the top 10 !

Sorry - the male singer in the UK entry cannot sing.

And they have already started to compare it to some waffle jingle.

And the rest of Europe can't stand the British government. David Cameron and his tories have destroyed the country.

I have a funny feeling Greece will do well this year.

A powerful pop ballad that Conchita Wurst or even Celine Dion would sing - and they now have a government that isn't gonna screw over the poor and vulnerable.

p.s. I really love the Danish entry - but don't think it'll score very well.

AUSTRALIA: Guy Sebastian - Tonight Again

017fixed.jpg

Australia’s broadcaster SBS has announced that Guy Sebastian will sing Tonight Again at the 2015 Eurovision Song Contest Final in Vienna, a brand new song that he just wrote and recorded to be Australia's debut in the competition. Tonight Again showcases the trademark soulful sound which Guy is renowned for. With a contemporary R&B style bursting with hooks, beats and celebratory lyrics, Tonight Again is a song that belongs on the Eurovision stage. Written and produced specifically for Eurovision over the past week in Sydney, Tonight Again is a new song highlighting Guy’s vocal prowess, with upbeat pop stylings and a catchy anthemic feel. Guy’s performance will be a celebration that marks the first time in Eurovision history that Australia has been invited to compete at the contest as a wild card entry to celebrate 60 years of the Eurovision Song Contest.

MONTENEGRO: Knez - Adio

knezhsh.jpg

Montenegro decided to be a part of Eurovision Song Contest this year again. Nenad Knezevic Knez, a very popular Montenegrin pop singer, is going to perforn for this Balkan country in Vienna. “I was not so surprise by the invitation to represent Montenegro at 2015 Eurovision Song Contest, because everybody know how passionate Eurovision fan I am”, Knez said in his first statement, after its being confirmed that he is going to represent this Balkan state in Vienna with a song ''Adio'', which was written by Zeljko Joksimovic, a true "Eurovision Song Contest veteran".

@Mario: How do you like the Montenegrin entry? ;)

When Maraaya met The Makemakes

maraayamak.jpg

Ljubljana, Slovenia - On Friday evening the Slovenian representatives in the 2015 contest Maraaya met the Austrian entrants The Makemakes in Ljubljana. Both neighbouring countries were ''building bridges'' in the Ljubljana City Museum. This year's Austrian representatives The Makemakes performed their entry I Am Yours, and as a small musical surprise, Maraaya sang part of the Austrian entry as well. Hosting the Austrian delegation in Ljubljana was also an opportunity for the exchange of contacts and socialising. "We lobbied for those 12 points from Austria," joked Raay. You can watch highlights of the event below, (which has been subtitled in English).

Armenia has come up with a new and innovative idea for the 2015 Eurovision Song Contest: The country will be represented by artists from all five continents! The idea is to unite a new generation of Armenians on stage whose families once spread all over the world in the year 1915. The project will be called Genealogy, and they will sing Don't Deny in Vienna. Yesterday the sixth and final member of the band Genealogy has been announced: It's Inga Arshakyan, who had already represented her country in the 2009 Eurovision Song Contest with her sister. Peace, unity and tolerance - that will be the key message of the Armenian entry in the 2015 Eurovision Song Contest.

It was a great idea but unfortunately their voices don't blend so well together especially the Operatic one from Australia and the song is very bland and lacking, if they place in the top 10 it will only be b/c of loyalty.

I also hope those aren't their costumes b/c they're very grim/border line puritanical.. or possibly what I imagine judges in Armenia might wear

OMFG!!! Really? Australia's begging to be in the contest finally worked? I love the EBU and I hope we pick an absolutely amazing singer to represent us because it isn't likely that we'll win and so we'll only have this one chance.

Oh just realized that you have Australia's "entry" already posted I'm glad that it's Guy Sebastian.

Also I can't believe that I live in Australia and this is the first place I found out (I have since googled it for all the details). I think I might need to make sure I have those nights off especially if they work out a way for us to vote.
